…and in this case, my baby isn’t to blame. Little man slept 7 straight hours last night.
I did not. Hoping that my ears get used to his little squeaks and chirps and that my brain lets me sleep through them...
If this is your first e-mail from me, welcome! In addition to writing the book How To Pack, I'm an entrepreneur and angel investor, an avid reader, and a mom of two boys (a 4 year old and a 2 month old).
Every Saturday, I share the 25 best reads from the Internet (culled from the daily shares on my Instagram), the books I've read that week, and things I'm generally loving at the moment. You can join the conversation on all these articles - and more! - in my Facebook group.

#ThingsILove This Week
In an effort to take better care of my skin, I’ve started doing an abhyanga twice a week. I slather this Taza Ayurveda body oil from feet to my neck, massaging it into my skin. I follow it up with a thorough dry brushing, and then hop into a epsom salt bath with this bath soak. My skin is happy, as it my soul.
I’ve been spending my solo evenings needlepointing while listening to an audiobook, and embracing my granny life. I’m working on this project, with the help of this hoop set and these scissors.
My favorite Amazon finds this week - the linen overalls I can’t-stop-won’t-stop wearing, this kitchen sink caddy, Vegan Rob’s dragon puffs (h/t to Fallon for recommending it), and a breastmilk freezer organizer (so necessary these days).
What I read this week:
Dominicana (ARC provided by Flatiron Books, release date September 3) - I’ve just started this book, but it is OUTSTANDING. It’s a beautiful portrayal of an immigrant experience that seems familiar (arranged marriage for family security, moving to America without any kind of support system) but is so different and unique and rich. Stay tuned on my IG for a giveaway for this book!
Current book reviewshere, every bookI’ve read this year, and all myAmazon favorites.

Trump Does an About-Face on Pakistan—and Blunders Into the Kashmir Dispute (Foreign Policy). This is deeply troubling to me, and this is why:
India is the USA's strongest geopolitical ally against China, and that relationship is even more important during our trade war with China.
The UN - not a single nation - should be responsible for mediation. Especially a conflict that has been in dispute for so long and has been on the brink of nuclear war.
The Brits really screwed South Asia with partition - which was on purpose. Two arbitrarily divided nations that would constantly be in conflict leaves the British still in a position of power, and that's what colonialism (and well, everything) is all about. Power.
